Cell phone Essay

Cell phones should be allowed in school because it is easier for family and friends to contact the student. If a family emergency were to occur it would be a good thing for the teenager to have their phone. Some cell phones have internet so that could help with projects or essays the the students have to write. As long as it was okayed with the teacher to use internet. It should also be allowed because it is a good way for coaches to tell their players about game or practice changes. That way students know when and where to be at the place they are supposed to go.

The Holocaust

Holocaust

The Holocaust started in approximately 1935. No one really knows for sure because it didn’t have a definite starting point. In 1935 Hitler banned Jewish people from marrying Aryans. Jews were also not aloud to serve as civil servants. Around this time Hitler talked to his people about his “final solution” for the Jews. He did not only kill the Jews, but he also killed the mentally ill, twins, homosexuals and gypsies. He said they were unworthy of life.” During the Holocaust over 11,000,000 people were brutally killed. About 6,000,000 were just Jewish people.

His “final solution” turned out to be capturing as many Jews as they could. They were sent to concentration camps where they would have very little food. They had to work for most hours during both day and night. They did not have good working conditions so it made it harder. They did not have proper clothing in any of the seasons. In the winter, some of the Jews didn’t even have shoes. If they were not sent to concentration camps then they were either tortured or killed. They burned most of the woman, children and elderly because they were not fit to work. If they were not burned, they were put in gas chambers and died of deadly gasses. The survivors of the concentration camps still were left with many scars. Each person that they captured had to have a number tattooed onto their body. They have to live with that for the rest of their lives. They also have to live with the torture scars all over their bodies. No only did they lose all of their possessions and homes, but some lost their friends and families.

Near the end of World War II, the Holocaust started to end and the people in the concentration camps started to receive freed. This took place in 1944 and 1945. The Nazis were defeated because they had lost the war against Russia and TheUnited States. They were also known as the allies. After Hitler died in 1945, the Germans decided to let go of all of the prisoners.

Some people don’t even think the Holocaust happened when it clearly did. Some people still discriminate against Jews, Gypsies, and the handicapped. It is against the law, but people still do it. I personally feel very bad for all of the people getting discriminated. It isn’t fair at all. Overall, it is very easily told that the Holocaust was a very devastating time. It affected many people and will never be forgotten.

Voice Thread Post

The people in my voicethread were Jessie, Sydney, and Taylor. It was Syd's job to do the tyoing and all of us did the research. We all worked together on how to put it all together and chose what pictures we used. We all took turns with the speaking. Our voicethread was on Abraham Lincoln. It was about his accomplishments and his life. I liked our pictures and how everything seemed to flow together well. It also had a lot of good information in it.

Cyberbullying

My forms of personal publishing are Facebook(which I comment on things, post statuses, upload photos and videos. etc.) Blogger(which I post assignments from Digital Communications), Voicethread, and Hotmail. I also post Glogs on Glogster.

Personal publishing is posting things about your personal life or thoughts on the internet. While using personal publishing you can share with the World memories, ideas, and writings.

Some things people think about before posting things on the internet are the people that are going to see it. Stalkers could see what your publishing and find out where you live very easily.

Issues to Consider
Audience: When you are publishing something on the internet it can eventually be read by anyone, even if you think it certain people don’t have access to your information.

Anonymity: Even when you use  a fake name on the internet, people can still see what you are saying by using a “digital footprint.” This lets the authorities see where everything on the internet came from and who posted it.

Permanence: If you post inappropriate things on the internet it could be seen for years to come.

Copyright: If you are going to post something on the internet, use your own words. Or get the persons permission.

Free Speech: Having a right to free speech does not mean that you can say whatever you want.

Cyberbullying

  1. What are some of the negative effects that cyberbullying can have on a person? Cyberbullying can make people feel physically and emotionally hurt. It can cause kids to not want to got to school because they are afraid of what people are going to say. It can increase suicidal thoughts and bad behavior. Some teenagers ended up taking their own lives.
  2. Where does cyberbullying commonly occur? It can happen everywhere in cyberspace. It mostly happens where teenagers are on a site together. It also happened on online video games.
  3. How much cyberbullying is out there? Depending on the age group, 10-40%
  4. How is cyberbullying different from traditional bullying? Sometimes the person that is getting bullied, doesn’t even know who is bullying them. Bullying over cyberspace makes it easier for more people to see.
  5. Why is cyberbullying becoming a major issue? Most kids are now using the internet and cell phones so it has become more popular. Kids are on the computer everyday to do things for school, work, and just for fun. So it isn’t surprising that some kids have been using the computer for mean things.
  6. What are the biggest challenges in the fight to stop cyberbullying? Many people don’t even see the harm in getting involved in it. Some teachers, parents and other teens are afraid to get involved.
  7. Are there warning signs that might indicate when cyberbullying is occurring? Yes, if the child or teenager suddenly stops using their cell phone or computer. Or gets jumpy or nervous when they get a text or email, ect..
  8. What can parents do? The best thing parents can do is make sure there child feels safe and secure.
  9. What should schools do to prevent cyberbullying? The best thing that schools can do is to teach the students about responsible internet use.
  10. What should schools do to respond to cyberbullying? Students should know that cyberbullying is not okay and that they will be punished for it.
  11. How is cyberbullying and school climate related? The better the school climate, the better the kids act.
  12. What can youth do? Youth should develop a good relationship with an adult they trust and can talk to if they start to get bullied.
  13. What can bystanders do? Usually, bystanders don’t do anything if they see someone getting bullied because they don’t want to deal with the drama it brings. They should look out for there peers and the people around them. If you don’t want it to happen to you, you shouldn’t let it happen to other people.
  14. What can law enforcement do? They need to be aware of what’s going on and they need to be involved with the things that go on in cyberspace.

Flickr and Sparklee name

Flickr Name
Sparklee Name

I liked the Sparklee name better because it is all the same type of letters and is the same color. I think flicker was easier to use becuase all you had to do was type your name and click.

Interesting Pants

This voicethread was very funny and adorable. It looked like it was made a while ago though, because some of the pants looked older. They didn't look like things people would wear today. The kids in thevoicethread were very cute.
Dr. Quinn

The voice thread I did was Dr. Quinn. He is a little boy wanting to help out people with there love problems. Although he is young, he actually does a pretty good job! It is very cute because his solutions to there problems are little and easy to do.

Some pros of this voice thread are.. he is very cute and makes things seem easier. He also tells most people to eat healthy. Some cons are; he is young and has never really had a relationship and so some of the things he says wont make sense. He also repeats himself.

Some postive things about the website is that it can be informational, or just cute and funny. Another thing is that anyone can comment.
